Best Time To Visit Florida?

Best Time To Visit Florida?-Northwestern Airlines

Moving chronologically through the calendar, January and February are usually
considered off peak months, which means that if you are looking for a little less
crowded theme park experience, this is an ideal time to travel. Lines for major
attractions are short, and often non existent, and the days, although warm and
pleasant are not debilitating.

Northwestern Airlines

This is a popular time for seniors to travel to Florida, often to escape the winter
conditions in their home land or state. And these "snowbirds" as they are known,
have been around a while and are savvy enough to know a great vacation
opportunity when it presents itself.

Many families also take the opportunity to travel at this time of year when
accommodation costs, especially in privately rented vacation homes, tend to be at
their lowest. After all, you get all the usual luxury you would expect, but for a lot
less money, so it really makes a lot of sense.

March and April can, dependent upon the year of travel, include the Easter break.
Without exception, Easter is the most popular time to travel to Florida. Many
vacation homes will actually book out Easter and the surrounding weeks up to three
years in advance, so it is important that if you are restricted by school vacation
schedules that you don't drag your heels. You can expect the theme parks to be
busy, but remember that these places are huge, and well equipped to handle large
crowds and keep them moving throughout the day.

May and June are often considered the respite months after the hustle and bustle of
Easter, and again you will discover the parks are less crowded, excluding the half
term UK vacation slot towards the end of May / beginning of June, which again is
very popular. Temperature wise, things really start to hot up now, as we head into
the full glory of the Floridian summer. However, June marks the official start of the
"rainy season", which is actually a little less scary than it sounds.

At this transitional time in the meteorological calendar, weather conditions are
rapidly changing from late spring to early summer, and as a result, it is not unusual
to experience a short shower around mid afternoon. The good news however is that
these showers last on average approximately 20 minutes, before returning to the
glorious sunshine for which Florida is famed.

July and August are considered peak months in the vacation calendar, as it is the
time when most folks are granted their annual leave from work. Temperatures can
soar into the high nineties and beyond. It is a busy time for vacation home rentals
and theme parks alike, but also an excellent time to work on getting that gorgeous
bronzed tan !

September slowly begins to lead us out of the summer months and begins to
transition us in preparation for Autumn (or the fall). Temperatures begin to slide to
a luxurious 85 degrees, and the humidity levels drop off too. Once again, the theme
parks take a respite after the events of another fun packed summer period.

By October and November, the temperatures have reached a modest 70 - 80
degrees throughout the day, but you will notice a slightly cooler night time scenario.
Of course by cool, I'm not talking scarves and mittens, this is Florida after all ~ but a
lightweight jacket or sweat shirt will help to keep you comfortable on your nocturnal
travels. Again, another excellent time to visit, as theme parks are a lot less crowded,
(with the exception of the end of October ~ yet another UK half term break), and
ideal if you find the hotter temperatures a little to much to handle.

And so to December. Always a magical time in Florida and this is reflected by the
stunning array of decorations and parades in both the theme parks and in the local
communities. But here is a little known tip for those of you who always thought
travelling at Christmas way out of your league ... Between 1st and 15th December most airlines tickets and vacation homes are available at brilliant rates. The reason ?
Most families are gearing up for Christmas itself, with all that that entails, and so
this two week pre-Christmas slot tends to get overlooked ! So my advice would be
to give the family a pre-Christmas treat and snag a bargain at what is a wonderful
time of year.

Of course, as you would expect, the weeks including Christmas Day and New Years
are extremely popular, and are priced accordingly. However, you haven't lived until
you have witnessed the New Year firework displays that Disney produces. They are
literally out of this world.

So, in conclusion, when is the best time to visit Florida ? I stand by my original
answer, and say, unreservedly, "Anytime !" Because each and every month of the
year holds something unique and special for anyone travelling to the sunshine state.
Go ahead, stick a pin in a calendar and try it out for yourself ~ I guarantee you won't
be disappointed !

How to Find Bereavement and Family Emergency Airfares

How to Find Bereavement and Family Emergency Airfares-Northwestern Airlines

When an unexpected death or medical emergency befalls a loved one far away, it is often very challenging to find and purchase an emergency airline ticket. It has always been the custom for airlines to charge the highest prices for tickets bought at the last minute, and even more if you don't know exactly when you will be returning.

Northwestern Airlines

For many years the airlines have offered bereavement airfares, but unfortunately most airlines have eliminated or dramatically reduced their family medical emergency and bereavement airfares in the past year. The airlines claim that competition has affected the marketplace so much that they just can no longer afford to reduce ticket prices any further. Really? We all know that last minute tickets with a flexible return date can often cost ,000 or more! Thankfully three major US airlines are still committed to assisting folks during family medical emergencies. They are American Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and United Airlines.

Here are the steps you need to take to secure a bereavement or family medical emergency reduced rate airline ticket:

1) You must phone the airline's reservation department. Contact American Airlines at 800-433-7300, Northwest Airlines at 800-225-2525, or United at 800-241-6522. Information for this type of ticket does not exist online. Airlines don't even admit they have such fares on their websites! Tell the reservation agent that you need a medical emergency or bereavement reduced rate airline ticket and what the circumstances are.

2) You must be an immediate family member - sister, brother, parent, child, grandchild etc. If you have extenuating circumstances, by all means explain them to the agent, they have been known to bend the rules from time to time.

3) The airline agent will verify the information you are telling them, so have the following information at hand for verification: Your relative's full name, Name and phone number of the funeral home
or Name and phone number of the hospital or medical facility, Name and phone number of the attending physician.

Flights should be able to be booked in the course of one phone call, so be prepared with your desired dates and times of travel before placing the phone call. If the first agent you speak with does not seem able or willing to deal with your request, end the call and dial in again. Finally, you may want to check on Priceline.com, Kayak.com and with low cost carriers that serve your area to see what a standard ticket would cost. You may find that there is a less expensive option available online than with a reduced rate bereavement ticket.

Clean Air Filters on Trucks is Extremely Important

Clean Air Filters on Trucks is Extremely Important-Airlines

Truck Engines are so much different than car engine and that goes for the Air Cleaners too. An air filter on a semi-truck must take in huge volumes of air. Any dirt or debris that gets into the engine through the air-filter can damage the engine and it does not take very much either. In fact 8 to 10 ounces of dirt can literally destroy a ,000 to ,000 motor. Most people do not realize how much air moves through the air-cleaner of a Diesel Truck Motor, it is tremendous amount of air that needs to be cleaned to insure proper burn and performance. Truck air filters are very nearly 100% efficient and they have to be to protect the motor. When the air flow comes into the filter the air comes through and the dirt is trapped as it sticks to the air-filter, which is the first line of defense for the air-cleaner system. The dirt sticks to the filter and to other dirt which has already been trapped there. This is why a clean air filter is not as useful as an air filter, which is a little dirty.Proper air cleaner strategies increase engine efficiency, meaning less pollution, more power and better fuel economy. For Diesel Truck Oil and Lube Companies and locations they need to understand that if they are advising truck owners to change the air-filter after each oil change they are actually cheating their customers and lessening the life of their truck engines, because a little dirt on the filter helps collect other dirt that is in the air flow being sucked in.Awareness of air-filter issues are a smart step to increasing fuel economy whether the motor is running Bio-Diesel, Straight Diesel or Hybrid Diesel notes the T-5 Group (The Truck Technology Think Tank Team). In fact some manufacturers claim that their OEM truck filters can operate for over 120,000 miles prior to change out.

How Do You Satisfy Your Customer?

How Do You Satisfy Your Customer?-Airlines

How can you build a sustainable business?

Airlines

Build your business around customer satisfaction. This is the "number one rule" in business. We live in a customer-centered market economy.

Due to the success of education system, and the rise of internet, the customer has access to so much information that was unavailable to them in the past.

This resulted in the customer has so much power to choose. They can simply walk away from your business.

Every company, large and small, must be thinking day and night about how to please customers faster, better, and cheaper than their competitors.

The very best companies are built on this philosophy. They have an obsession with customer service.

They are continually looking for ways to please their customers better than any of their competitors. You must have heard this, "The customer is always right".

You cannot satisfy people with goods or paper of any kind. People are emotional, and they can be satisfied only as the result of their interactions with other people.

According to a Harvard study, fully 68% of dissatisfied customers who changed suppliers did so because of the indifference of one or more people in the company.

This is why the most successful companies have very clear customer satisfaction policies, usually in writing. Everyone in those organizations is committed to treating customers well.

For example, the Walt Disney Corporation hires thousand of college students to work at the Disney theme parks in the summertime.

These students are hired in the middle of May and trained for four to six weeks in their functions. They then work for approximately eight weeks of the summer season when children are out of school and the theme parks are the busiest.

Why did the students receive such rigorous training, lasting four to six weeks, to then work for only eight weeks before going back to school?

Disney executives explain that the students are drilled in their jobs to the point where they can do them without thinking. This allows them to concentrate their attention on the visitors.

Because the students have memorized their jobs completely, they are more conscious of the small things they can do to make people happy that they have chosen to come to a Disney amusement park.

The best companies learned a long time ago that the people they select will largely determine their success.

They therefore take a long time to hire people and are very careful in both interviewing and in checking references.

Once a person has been hired, if that hiree is the wrong person, he or she can cause a great deal of harm before being let go.

Is your business built around customer satisfaction? Do that for your business, because that's the way to go.

Native American Indian Art Wood Carvings of the Pacific Northwest

Native American Indian Art Wood Carvings of the Pacific Northwest

Native American Indian art in the American southwest is dominated by the magnificent pottery and jewelry in the region. When it comes to the Pacific Northwest region which covers the states of Oregon, Washington, British Columbia (Canada) and the southern part of Alaska, the Native American art here is mostly wood carvings. This is not surprising since unlike the southwest desert, the Pacific Northwest is abundant with forests which have provided the wood as raw material for the region's Native American Indian art.

The wood carvings of the Pacific Northwest Native American art come in many different forms. The huge totem poles which are carved on entire tree trunks are probably the most famous. Certainly the most common form of contemporary Pacific Northwest Native American art is the plaque wood carving. The entire range of Pacific Northwest Native American Indian art subjects including eagles, ravens, thunderbirds, bears, killer whales and salmons are carved as plaques to be hung on the wall. A more complex project and usually higher priced would be the masks which are also carved out of wood. The Pacific Northwest Native American artists make some of the most striking aboriginal masks in the world.

Creative artists and carvers from this region have also used wood to carve out bowls, paddles, rattles and boxes which are all expertly decorated with Pacific Northwest Native American Indian designs. Some carvers have even carved more day to day objects such as letter openers out of wood again decorated with the region's Native motifs. Although not restricting themselves to just wood, the Pacific Northwest Native American artists also do art prints, paintings and precious metal jewelry but overall wood is still the most common material used in their artwork.

The Pacific Northwest style of Native American Indian art is still unknown to many parts of North America and the rest of the world but this will definitely change as the 2010 winter Olympics in British Columbia approaches. The world will see British Columbia and as visitors to this Canadian province have already noticed, there are fine examples of Pacific Northwest Native American Indian art everywhere one goes in the west coast of Canada.

Local Used Cars For Sale By Owner

Local Used Cars For Sale By Owner

Local used car for sale by owner is a term that comes up to the mind of every person in the used cars market. The perception is that owner sales are always money savers. This can be very true, or very wrong.

The assumption would be valid if the right research is coupled, and could become your worst enemy if you neglect to do your homework. It may lead to a higher overall budget when the repair work is added to the equation.Hence, there are some dealers and individuals that have no sympathy for negligent shoppers when it comes to the aftermath of selling a car.

I will focus this article on local used cars for sale by owners, and will further dedicate a whole chapter of tips and hints to smart shopping at dealerships. Hence, private sellers don't have to pay employees, lot rental and all the other costs associated with running a car dealership.

This allows for a used car listed by an owner to be less costly than an identical at a dealership. And this is why you should always look for local used cars for sale by owners.

When approaching private sellers you should always know that every human being looks for their best interest, not only you do so. So, it doesn't hurt to ask questions and further use the services available to public to confirm the answers. Carfax is a report that provides you with information pertaining to accidents that car have been in, and major mechanical problems were fixed. Furthermore, the best advise I can give you is have the seller provide you with an inspection report from a brand name mechanical shop. Based on the report, you could then associate the car with one of three conditions, fair, good, or excellent. Next, visit KBB for a very accurate fair market listing according to the condition of the car.

Used cars for sale by owners are listed in numerous marketing channels. Start with your local newspapers, get an idea of what's out there, then browse some trade magazines, and last but not least with the power of the internet. Keep in mind that all mentioned methods charge to list a car, and the more they list the larger their profit going to be. Browse the internet for websites that do not charge money to list the cars, and better yet, look for those that provide free consultation and tips to the buyers. The way these types of websites operate allows them to profit from buyers visiting their site, as appose to sellers listing their cars.

Finally, keep in mind that asking price does not equal the final out of pocket value. After buying the car, you would have to pay tax, license, registration and most importantly initial preventive maintenance (oil changes, fluid flushes etc.). On a concluding note, Local used car for sale by owner is a term that could be your best dream, or worst nightmare. It all depends on your level of awareness of the cars' history, and the amount of basic research you do.

History of Travel & Tourism

History of Travel & Tourism

2000 years Before Christ, in India and Mesopotamia

Travel for trade was an important feature since the beginning of civilisation. The port at Lothal was an important centre of trade between the Indus valley civilisation and the Sumerian civilisation.

600 BC and thereafter

The earliest form of leisure tourism can be traced as far back as the Babylonian and Egyptian empires. A museum of historic antiquities was open to the public in Babylon. The Egyptians held many religious festivals that attracted the devout and many people who thronged to cities to see famous works of arts and buildings.

In India, as elsewhere, kings travelled for empire building. The Brahmins and the common people travelled for religious purposes. Thousands of Brahmins and the common folk thronged Sarnath and Sravasti to be greeted by the inscrutable smile of the Enlightened One- the Buddha.

500 BC, the Greek civilisation

The Greek tourists travelled to sites of healing gods. The Greeks also enjoyed their religious festivals that increasingly became a pursuit of pleasure, and in particular, sport. Athens had become an important site for travellers visiting the major sights such as the Parthenon. Inns were established in large towns and seaports to provide for travellers' needs. Courtesans were the principal entertainment offered.

This era also saw the birth of travel writing. Herodotus was the worlds' first travel writer. Guidebooks also made their appearance in the fourth century covering destinations such as Athens, Sparta and Troy. Advertisements in the way of signs directing people to inns are also known in this period.

The Roman Empire

With no foreign borders between England and Syria, and with safe seas from piracy due to Roman patrols, the conditions favouring travel had arrived. First class roads coupled with staging inns (precursors of modern motels) promoted the growth of travel. Romans travelled to Sicily, Greece, Rhodes, Troy and Egypt. From 300 AD travel to the Holy Land also became very popular. The Romans introduced their guidebooks (itineraria), listing hotels with symbols to identify quality.

Second homes were built by the rich near Rome, occupied primarily during springtime social season. The most fashionable resorts were found around Bay of Naples. Naples attracted the retired and the intellectuals, Cumae attracted the fashionable while Baiae attracted the down market tourist, becoming noted for its rowdiness, drunkenness and all- night singing.

Travel and Tourism were to never attain a similar status until the modern times.

In the Middle Ages

Travel became difficult and dangerous as people travelled for business or for a sense of obligation and duty.

Adventurers sought fame and fortune through travel. The Europeans tried to discover a sea route to India for trade purposes and in this fashion discovered America and explored parts of Africa. Strolling players and minstrels made their living by performing as they travelled. Missionaries, saints, etc. travelled to spread the sacred word.

Leisure travel in India was introduced by the Mughals. The Mughal kings built luxurious palaces and enchanting gardens at places of natural and scenic beauty (for example Jehangir travelled to Kashmir drawn by its beauty.

Travel for empire building and pilgrimage was a regular feature.

The Grand Tour

From the early seventeenth century, a new form of tourism was developed as a direct outcome of the Renaissance. Under the reign of Elizabeth 1, young men seeking positions at court were encouraged to travel to continent to finish their education. Later, it became customary for education of gentleman to be completed by a 'Grand Tour' accompanied by a tutor and lasting for three or more years. While ostensibly educational, the pleasure seeking men travelled to enjoy life and culture of Paris, Venice or Florence. By the end of eighteenth century, the custom had become institutionalised in the gentry. Gradually pleasure travel displaced educational travel. The advent of Napoleonic wars inhibited travel for around 30 years and led to the decline of the custom of the Grand Tour.

The development of the spas

The spas grew in popularity in the seventeenth century in Britain and a little later in the European Continent as awareness about the therapeutic qualities of mineral water increased. Taking the cure in the spa rapidly acquired the nature of a status symbol. The resorts changed in character as pleasure became the motivation of visits. They became an important centre of social life for the high society.

In the nineteenth century they were gradually replaced by the seaside resort.

The sun, sand and sea resorts

The sea water became associated with health benefits. The earliest visitors therefore drank it and did not bathe in it. By the early eighteenth century, small fishing resorts sprung up in England for visitors who drank and immersed themselves in sea water. With the overcrowding of inland spas, the new sea side resorts grew in popularity. The introduction of steamboat services in 19th century introduced more resorts in the circuit. The seaside resort gradually became a social meeting point

Role of the industrial revolution in promoting travel in the west

The rapid urbanisation due to industrialisation led to mass immigration in cities. These people were lured into travel to escape their environment to places of natural beauty, often to the countryside they had come from change of routine from a physically and psychologically stressful jobs to a leisurely pace in countryside.

Highlights of travel in the nineteenth century

·        Advent of railway initially catalysed business travel and later leisure travel. Gradually special trains were chartered to only take leisure travel to their destinations.

·        Package tours organised by entrepreneurs such as Thomas Cook.

·        The European countries indulged in a lot of business travel often to their colonies to buy raw material and sell finished goods.

·        The invention of photography acted as a status-enhancing tool and promoted overseas travel.

·        The formation of first hotel chains; pioneered by the railway companies who established great railway terminus hotels.

·        Seaside resorts began to develop different images as for day-trippers, elite, for gambling.

·        Other types of destinations-ski resorts, hill stations, mountaineering spots etc.

·        The technological development in steamships promoted travel between North America and Europe.

·        The Suez Canal opened direct sea routes to India and the Far East.

·        The cult of the guidebook followed the development of photography.

Tourism in the Twentieth Century

The First World War gave first hand experience of countries and aroused a sense of curiosity about international travel among less well off sector for the first time. The large scale of migration to the US meant a lot of travel across the Atlantic. Private motoring began to encourage domestic travel in Europe and the west.  The sea side resort became annual family holiday destination in Britain and increased in popularity in other countries of the west. Hotels proliferated in these destinations.

The birth of air travel and after

The wars increased interest in international travel. This interest was given the shape of mass tourism by the aviation industry. The surplus of aircrafts and growth of private airlines aided the expansion of air travel. The aircraft had become comfortable, faster and steadily cheaper for overseas travel. With the introduction of Boeing 707 jet in 1958, the age of air travel for the masses had arrived. The beginning of chartered flights boosted the package tour market and led to the establishment of organised mass tourism. The Boeing 747, a 400 seat craft, brought the cost of travel down sharply. The seaside resorts in the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Caribbean were the initial hot spots of mass tourism.

A corresponding growth in hotel industry led to the establishment of world-wide chains. Tourism also began to diversify as people began to flock alternative destinations in the 70s. Nepal and India received a throng of tourists lured by Hare Krishna movement and transcendental meditation. The beginning of individual travel in a significant volume only occurred in the 80s. Air travel also led to a continuous growth in business travel especially with the emergence of the MNCs.

How to Find Cheap Flights - Get the Best Deals on Your Airfares

How to Find Cheap Flights - Get the Best Deals on Your Airfares

Every traveler wishes to get cheap air tickets. Most of the travelers would have a common question in their mind, which would be "How to Find Cheap Flights". However, there are many people that spend lot of money on their air travels especially frequent flyers. Many business class people that travel frequently lose lot of money on flights. Therefore, let us see the best and the easiest methods to find cheap flights.

However, it could be difficult to find low cost airfares during the economic crunch. The economic breakdown has really had its effects on the airline industry. Even though, there are certain airline companies offering lower airfares for their customers. It is just that, we need to find them at the right time. This article will give you valued information to find cheap flights.

Utilize Online Resource: The best way to find an answer on how to find cheap airfares is the internet. There are many websites for booking flight tickets. Most of these websites help to find best deals and rates to travel between destinations. The main benefit of using these websites is that it compares the ticket rates between the available airlines to the destination you intend to travel. The comparison tool is very useful as it helps to find the lowest flights. Use proper websites to search for best deals such as Kayak, Orbitz, and Travelocity. Apart from that, you can check the airline websites for their special offers for reductions and discounts.

Check Newspapers: All the airlines do post special offers and discounts in local newspapers and classifieds. Mostly, business related newspapers would contain precise and specific information. Apart from that, certain travel agents would also post their special discounts and reductions for booking air-tickets through them. Many people have benefited from these classifieds. People with less internet access can use this as a potential method to find the best and affordable rates to travel.

Contact Airline: The best method to find best deals in airfares is calling the airline company. This is a potential way to find low airfares. Call the customer care number to enquire and book ticket. Calling the airline will help to know about their latest offers and discounts available for the particular season or month. Calling two or three airlines will help to find and compare the rates. The main advantage of this method is it gives you precise information unlike few travel agents and other online sites.

Buy From Consolidators: American, United, Continental, Northwest, Southwest are the best deal offers in the United States. The best deals are always mentioned in the airline websites before second party sites. Apart from that, look for consolidators in your area. They buy tickets in bulk and sell them for less rates and discounts to fill all the seats in the flight. You can find the consolidators in the travel sections of your newspaper.

Certain airline companies provide low airfares during weekdays, non holiday season, special discounts for group tickets (minimum 6 members) etc. if none of these methods work, you can finally search the internet for "how to find cheap flights". Even if you search the internet, you will come across the same results. Therefore, be wise and use precise and direct methods to get the best deals on airfares like calling the airline company.

The Small Village of Coniston, Cumbria

The Small Village of Coniston, Cumbria

The village of Coniston, Cumbria lies in the Furness region of England. It has a current population of around 3,500 people. It is also located in the southern region of the Lake District National Park, in the northwestern areas of the country. Coniston sits at the head of the third-longest lake in this district, called Coniston Water. The town lies just east of the Coniston Old Man, a nearly 2,700-foot high mountain.

Prior to 1974, the town was part of Lancashire County. It was placed within the newly-created ceremonial county of Cumbria at that time. Coniston started its life as a small farming village, growing slightly to serve the nearby mining activities that focused on copper and slate. During the Victorian era, it became more popularly known as a tourist destination after a rail line was run into the town in 1859.

The scenic nature of the town's location and its proximity to the Coniston Old Man and other rugged and wild natural areas has led to Coniston benefitting from tourism in the form of hill walking and rock climbing enthusiasts. Dow Crag, which lies about 3 miles from the village, is particularly attractive to climbers.

The town also benefitted from the birth of district national park in 1950. This served to provide a nice boost to the tourism activities which to this day are the main industry of the town and its environs. The village plays host to a number of hotels and two youth hostels. There are also 2 slate quarries still open and operating in the area.

The shire county of Cumbria came into existence in 1974 as a result of the Local Government Act of 1972. It lies in the northwestern part of the country, and it boasts a current population of nearly half a million people. It is also the third-largest ceremonial county in all of England, by land mass. Both Coniston and Cumbria are great examples of what England is like in this modern day and was like in its past.

Is Seattle's Best Coffee Any Better than Starbucks?

Is Seattle's Best Coffee Any Better than Starbucks?

Whenever people talk about coffee, it seems that they like to make some kind of comparison between their favorite brands or blends with what Starbucks offers. Perhaps it is because Starbucks is such an easy brand to compare to since practically everyone worth their weight in coffee beans has had a piping hot cup of coffee at Starbucks at some point in time. Whatever the case, here is yet another comparison of a brand of coffee versus the current coffee champion - Starbucks.

While Starbucks is the reigning king of the hill in Seattle, there is actually another, slightly lesser known coffee company that has come from the same northwestern coffee capital of America. Known as Seattle's Best Coffee, they have been around for nearly forty years and have been making an amazing cup of coffee ever since. Although Seattle's Best Coffee has gone through a variety of name changes, including brands like Stewart Brothers Coffee, it has keep the same amazing blends on its menu throughout - so they must be pretty darn amazing.

In 1998, Seattle's Best Coffee became one of the first coffee retailers to actually sell a blend that was specifically made up of organically grown beans - a major selling point for many people. This blend became so successful that it propelled Seattle's Best Coffee to a position as the third most prominent coffee retailer in America for a time, competing with the ever present Starbucks and the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.

So, despite the extensive history behind Seattle's Best Coffee, is it really the better bang for your hard earned buck? Well, that really depends on taste. Sure, it costs quite a bit less when you buy it in their stores and even when you purchase a bag of beans at the grocery - but ultimately the taste really has nothing to do with the price. Give it a try, see how you like it, and then make your own decision about whether or not Seattle's Best Coffee is really Seattle's best coffee.

Low Cost Airlines

Low Cost Airlines

The term low cost airline is very familiar to us as they refer to the airlines with low ticket prices. They are also known as no frills, discount or budget carrier. We can find that low-cost airlines are growing in the last fiscal year. The Pizza Hut at the International airports is now a clear indicator of the health of the aviation sector. The consumer reports say that Delhi accounts for 21 percent of the of the country's total air traffic and the 30 percent rise in the number of pizzas sold in last year reflects the customers mentality in spending more these days. This definitely reflects the revival of airlines. This happens because of the rising number of business travelers, recovering economy and holiday season.

More than 43.8 million passengers travelled in 2009 which is 2.5 million more than the previous year. It is interesting to note that the Pizza Hut installed a high-speed oven which takes half the previous time. The Jet airways traffic in business class went up to 1000 passengers a day. The Spice Jet CEO also has the same statement that they too have got high demand but there are viewing it with great caution as the yields were low in the previous years. It should be noted that the aviation sector is not affected by the rise in the fuel prices. Moreover the economy is showing signs of revival and the business gets a boost on the increased consumption.

Spice Jet posted that they have a profit of Rs 108.9 crore in the December quarter. A year before they had a loss of Rs 17.9 crore. Their revenues also rose to 37 percent. For Jet Airways the profit is Rs 105.8 crore. Even Air India was able to cut its operating losses by 25 percent. This is only because there is an improvement in the management of costs, both in tariffs and crude prices. We can find that consumer complaints have reduced to an extent with better delivery of services. Due to the entire losses the airline companies decided to do some restructuring like cutting back on staff, stopping unprofitable routes and even some airlines were leased out.

The report by Centre of Asia-Pacific Aviation (CAPA) says that the most significant and strategic development in the domestic market is the change over to low-cost airline. It is only six years that the concept of low cost airline came into existence and it has taken almost 70 per cent of domestic capacity. Consumers can expect a full service in the future.

In the consumers view point the airlines must give them what they want and this is the only mantra for a sustained growth. Customers are satisfied with on-time reliability and on-time arrival. We can find that the low cost airlines are taking care of that and on-time performance carriers like Paramount and IndiGo have been far better than that of the full service carriers.

There are no special features or frills; these low cost airlines have focused on reliable performance and offer business class ambience at affordable prices. The consumer report shows that Paramount Airways is very popular with corporate. However it is clear that the airline industry is gearing up for a period of good growth.

Centre of Asia-Pacific Aviation (CAPA) predicts that the domestic segment is likely to show a 15 percent growth in the coming two years. The international airline growth is also expected by ten percent, Boeing India expects orders of 1000 aircraft worth 0 billion from Indian companies in the next 20 years.

All the optimistic hopes lie on the assumption that the crude prices will not rise again. The airlines will be able to manage the costs and there are enough chances for the growth of all airlines. In the United States there are three aircraft seats per year for its 300 million populations and while in India, for its 1.17 billion populations there are only 0.1 seats available.

This area has a lot of opportunities available in India for the airline sector to enhance their growth. Once people have travelled by air how many will want to get back to rail or bus? Almost five years ago eight percent of the consumers used to travel for business purposes, today the figure is reduced to half for that purposes. As the airport infrastructure and connectivity improves, aviation sector will show a great growth in the coming years.

Most of the airlines are planning for big changes. SpiceJet and Paramount flies abroad and they expand their footprints nationally. GoAir is planning to emerge with twelve new aircraft in the next two years. All the changes shows that Indian carriers are getting ready to have a big take off.

Canyon Landforms

Canyon Landforms

A canyon landform is a deep and narrow valley with high walls that typically extends for miles. Erosion that takes hundreds of thousand of years is the cause of this forming landform. The steep walls are made from the rocks we all know as sandstone and granite. There are also canyons that are underwater which are known to the systematic community as submarine types. Some of these landforms are thousands of feet under their surrounding landscape which give canyons depth. The widths of the canyons may vary between miles or feet. In rare occurrences, the light of the sun cannot reach to the ground of the canyon due to how deep it is.

The wind and water usually produces canyons during a very long and tedious process of erosion by water and wind. Wind does play a big part of forming canyon landforms. Water though, is the most important reason of forming canyon landforms. Water scours and cuts away the layers of rock and forms the floor of the canyon over hundreds of years. Canyons are the results of millions of years of dispensation to give the existing shape. Canyon landforms have larger depth than the width. Canyon landforms are narrow and deep valley carved by a swift-moving river and the walls of the canyon landforms could be V-shaped or smooth. These impressive landforms are formed in the limestone rock areas as the limestone is to a certain extent soluble.

Gradual geologic uplift may end up in massive rivers running in the canyons. These streams are referred to as entrenched rivers. Rivers that are in canyons have a tough time changing their direction. In the northwestern US there are 2 examples of geologic uplift rivers; they are the Colorado River and the Snake River.

Two other kinds of canyon landforms are found around the planet are the plateau and slot types. The most common ways canyons are formed are through erosion. Two of the most famed types of plateaus and erosion landforms are the Grand Canyon located in mostly in Arizona and the Black Canyon is Colorado. A river is flowing on the floor of these canyons which erodes and shapes them. Many of the Grand Canyon has walls that are high and steep.

Leading and Managing the Corporate Culture

Leading and Managing the Corporate Culture

Corporate culture simply means, "This is the way we do things around here", or

"A set of acceptable behaviours we expect people to do."

There are always two cultures in a company, family or group.

The first is the "espoused culture" - i.e. "people are our most important product."

In an "espoused culture," what we say doesn't fit with what we actually do or what people are rewarded for. So if we say "people are important" but we treat them badly what is said does not fit with what we do. The result is cynicism, resentment and dis-engagement - KaChing$$$ - cash down the toilet.

The second is the "real culture" in which behaviours reflect the stated values. Outcome: Alignment, engagement and loyalty. KaChing$$$ - money in the bank.

A "real culture" points the way to an ideal and 'better' culture that will lead to a sustainable business that has a great "Invisible Balance Sheet."

The "invisible Balance Sheet"

A term coined by Carl Sveiby, is made up of three families of "invisible" or intangible assets:

(1) Internal Structure - Consists of patents, concepts, models, and computer and administrative systems. These are created by the employees and are thus generally "owned" by the organization, and adhere to it.

(2) External Structure - the relationships with customers and suppliers, brand names, trademarks and reputation, or "image". Some of these can be considered legal property, but the bond is not as strong as in the case of internal assets because investments in them cannot be made with the same degree of confidence. The value of such assets is primarily influenced by how well the company solves its customers´ problems -or avoids creating problems for customers. There is always an element of uncertainty here. Reputations and relationships can be good or bad, and can change over time. Peanut butter or "mad cow" being cases in point.

(3) Individual Human Competence - or intellectual capital is people's ability and/or willingness to act in various situations that add value to the company. It includes skills, education, experience, values and social skills. Competence cannot be owned by anyone or anything but the person who possesses them, because in the final analysis, employees are voluntary members of the organization,

Why Build a Healthy Culture?

The results can be magnificent if top management enshrines and rewards the right behaviours i.e. Disney, Apple, Google. Disastrous if the company leaders are incongruent, inconsistent and duplicitous. i.e. Ford, GM & Chrysler

One successful example is Northwest Airlines, which has built its culture on the development and motivation of the individual in order to contribute to team success. Southwest has produced 97 consecutive quarters of profits while other airlines floundered in bankruptcy.

One purpose of articulating and fostering a healthy culture is to lead employees to adopt "the mind-set of owner-operators." The hired guns of global financial institutions failed miserably in this regard.

Culture Differs from One Organization to Another.

Cambridge Design Partnership, in the UK, employs only 25 people, mostly top-class engineers. Its culture is built on the goal of attracting and keeping customers for contract research. Keeping is the key element here, because in the engineering design business the sales cycle is so long - often years. CDP has never had a failed project and has many repeat customers.

The "real" and the "espoused" definitions of culture share an obvious link. If you change the culture from whatever exists, i.e. from unclear purpose and shoddy results, to clear purpose and consistently outstanding results, then you change the "way we do things round here."

Progressive, effective top managers understand and behave in ways that show that they are responsible for building and maintaining a healthy culture. If some aspect of the business is broken, they will introduce some new ways that will produce the desired results. They work with people to fine-tune the culture. Any wise, experienced business leader worth their salt will tell you that people cooperate best when executing policies and procedures devised with their collaboration.

The Present Exception to the Rule - Sort of.

Right now, in this economic malaise there is an apparent and major exception to the collaboration principle.

Businesses in trouble require a quick, marked cultural change to drive the turnaround - now. A faltering company can be made more effective if everyone puts their shoulders into the tasks.

Collaboration is essential, but prolonged consultation is not so useful in this instance. What top management must do is tune into, and turn up the volume on that radio station - WII-FM - (What's In It For Me?) so that every employee understands that now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of the company. When the house is on fire, you don't sit around debating about what to do next! You make sure people don't get burned because they're frozen in fear.

However, crisis management is not a strong foundation for constructing a lasting, healthy culture. When the crisis is successfully dealt with, the urgency and commitment that everyone brought to the turnaround quickly dissipates. The organization and culture can quickly revert to the status quo - which was the source of all the trouble in the first place.

CDP and Southwest Airlines have one thing in common. All their employees, from the CEO down, have a deep knowledge of the business, its objectives and its practices - to most of which they give their wholehearted support.

The leadership team can, because of a common cultural understanding and commitment, pursue ambitious, quick-paced plans that would not be possible in a dysfunctional, slow moving culture. Companies with healthy cultures are more likely to have the resiliency to weather the firestorm while preserving their culture.

Other companies, with less healthy cultures, and which successfully emerge from the economic crisis will have to, again, begin re-working their culture as the good times start to roll again - if for no other reason than the "war for good talent" will rear its ugly head once again. Top managements' efforts will have to move from financial survival to profitable sustainability while building the "invisible Balance Sheet."

Leading & Managing A Healthy Corporate Culture

A healthy culture always follows from the principles and policies that are put in place and modeled - not vice-versa.

Here are the questions to ask - and answer - in order to identify a company's culture.

They are also questions that need to be answered when developing or changing a company's culture.

1. What is important around here? What gets rewarded? What gets punished? What gets ignored. What are our core beliefs, the principles that govern how we interact and treat one another, our customers and our suppliers? - Values.

2. Do we have the right people on the bus and in the right seats? Are they aligned with the demands of the business? Do we have the competitive intelligence? How do we develop them into leaders and managers who will drive results while developing people? - The "Invisible Balance Sheet."

3. Where are we going? What future state do we want to achieve? - Vision.

4. How are we going to get there? What's the Big Dream? What is the roadmap? - Strategy.

5. Why are we here? Why have we pulled all these people and resources together? - Mission.

Go Where the Fare is Low

Go Where the Fare is Low

Have you ever noticed that world travelers seem to have an easier time affording their trips than people who are going on vacation? Think about it. You've been saving for months, maybe years, for that trip to Hawaii. The guy next door just got back from Singapore, and he's headed to Australia in a few weeks. Why is that?

To save money, you need to be flexible. If you have your heart set on a particular destination at a particular time, you've given away your flexibility, and you'll pay more for the privilege to get exactly what you want, when you want it. On the other hand, if you just want to travel somewhere new, you have the advantage. You can go wherever the low fares take you.

Just about everyone is familiar with discount fare sites like Expedia, Travelocity, and Priceline. What most people don't realize is that the six legacy carriers--United, U.S. Airways, American, Delta, Northwest, and Continental--offer a variety of special fares on a regular basis exclusively through their own Web sites. (To be accurate, Alaska Air is also a legacy carrier, but its specialized market works differently; we're only talking about the six listed above.)

One type of discount is the last-minute discount. The biggest cost of flying a plane is the fuel that it takes to get it off the ground and keep it there. Flights don't get cancelled because they're underbooked, but every empty seat is lost revenue for the airline. It's better to have a seat filled than to have one empty, so airlines cut fares on seats that would otherwise be empty to get people in them.

But there's a twist. If a flight is popular, then getting a ticket at the last minute costs more than usual. And the airlines don't know whether a flight will be popular or not until a few days before it's scheduled to leave. So, every week--usually on Tuesdays--airlines publish last-minute discount fares for the week.

Last-minute discounts are always based on origin and destination. To see where you might be able to go, just look up the airport or airports out which you may be able to fly. Be sure to read the terms. Last-minute fare specials are nonrefundable and generally require you to leave and return on specific days (though not at specific times). A typical domestic last-minute fare will require a Saturday departure with return on Sunday or Monday. International last-minute fares may run Thursday to Monday or Friday to Tuesday.

Airlines also offer promotional discounts on rates that they want to draw attention. If an airline just added an exciting new route or hub, a special fare offer is a good way to get the word out. Promotional fares also help airlines fill seats to destinations that are out of season. For instance, United almost always offers winter fare specials to Germany, but warm-weather destinations are discounted in the summer.

The restrictions on promotional fares vary but tend to be more flexible than last-minute fares. There's always a requirement to purchase by a certain date and travel within a certain period. Most promotional fares outside of the U.S. have a minimum stay required at the destination (ranging from a Saturday night for Europe to as much as a week for Asian destinations). And, of course, these are nonrefundable fares.

Finding special fares can be a bit time consuming. The specials are published on the airlines' own Web sites, which means you need to visit each one in turn to see all of the options. You can cut that back a bit by focusing on airlines that have major presence at your local airport, but then you might miss a really good deal.

For travelers looking to see the world, though--especially busy people traveling one weekend at a time--discount fares put your flexibility to its best use, introducing you to new places that you may never have thought worth seeing until you took the opportunity to see them. Whether we're talking about fares or destinations, remember that some of the best things in life are relatively obscure.

MALAYSIA: An Asian Retirement Paradise

MALAYSIA: An Asian Retirement Paradise

Asia's best-kept secret for expatriates, Malaysia has a vibrant mix of foreign and indigenous tribal cultures, creating a veritable melting pot of peoples, traditions and religions.

A sizable enclave of foreigners (Brits, Americans, Australians, and Canadians) live full time or maintain holiday homes in Malaysia, and you'll find that just about everybody speaks English, since its compulsory in local schools.

Not only are three world-class playgrounds (Thailand, Bali, and the Philippines) all within a few hour's travel from Malaysia, but with miles of white sand coastline, tropical islands, and beachfront property galore, it has all the makings of a fairy-tale setting.

Despite being the capital of a developing nation, Kuala Lumpur is a modern cosmopolitan with clean streets and sidewalks and every modern convenience to found in New York or London. Home to the tallest building in the world, there are also FedEx and UPS offices, international banks, English cinemas and bookstores, western-style supermarkets, French and German bakeries, Chinese, Indian, and Italian restaurants, gourmet coffee, Cuban cigars, Internet cafés and some of the best shopping in the world!

One of the few things that lend a "Third-world" feel to the capital are the open-air night market, where local merchants peddle everything from fresh fruit and vegetables, to meat and fish, to exotic animals and traditional handicrafts.

All the major newspapers are available at newsstands, including the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, the Financial Times, the International Herald Tribune and The New York Times. Cable and satellite TV provides access to a wide variety of English-language programming, including CNN, the Discovery Channel, Filmnet and many more.

Despite the local Muslim population not drinking alcohol, Kuala Lumpur has some of the liveliest nightlife in the region and there are more than a fair share of clubs and bars, where tourists, expatriates and locals alike mingle and party. Though the official religion of Malaysia is Islam, great tolerance is shown for other religions, with many beliefs being represented and their adherents practicing openly, including Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists and Jews (the nearest synagogue is in neighboring Singapore).

Compared with other major Asian cities (Tokyo, Singapore, and Hong Kong, for example), Kuala Lumpur is downright cheap. Even in the over-priced tourist spots you can get a good meal for two for around . Outside of these places, a 3-course meal for two with all the trimmings, including drinks, will set you back no more than ...a doctor's visit to and live-in domestic help 0 a month.

Rental properties are readily available and not overly expensive by American or European standards. The cost of 2-bedroom rental apartments begins at around 5 per month, with 3-bedroom houses starting at ,000. Naturally, comparable housing in expatriate communities or the luxurious suburban homes that date from British colonial period can set you back considerably more.

Other properties recently on offer include:

A 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom, 725-square-foot apartment with a dining room, a kitchen, ceiling fans, a walk-in closet, and parking, costs ,215.

A small two-story bungalow with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a kitchen, a living room, and a dining room going for ,700.

A penthouse apartment, close to downtown, with a sea-view and a 350-sqare-foot terrace. It comes fully furnished and has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a kitchen, and a dining room. The asking price? ,000.

A spacious 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 2500-square-foot condominium with a large living room, an elegant dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a pantry, for 5,250.

Though there are expensive restaurants and accommodations, there's simply no reason for you to check into a five-star hotel when you can stay in a clean, friendly hotel in the city center for a night where every meal costs less than per person.

CRIME-FREE AND FOREIGNER FRIENDLY

Of course, cheap living shouldn't be the only deciding factor when choosing a new home. As well as being very affordable, Malaysia is safe. The government's real no tolerance policy means street crime is virtually nonexistent.

The Malaysian government, through its "Silver-Haired Program," offers expatriate resident retirees extremely attractive benefits. Outside of nationals of Israel and Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro), the program is open to citizens of most countries. To qualify, you need only be over 50, show you can bring a guaranteed income of about 00 per month into Malaysia (or open a savings account in Malaysia with ,000), and have a local sponsor (which can easily be arranged).

Penang, a small island off the northwest coast, has been called the "Pearl of the Orient" and its beaches are a favorite tourist destination. The coastline is also dotted with many small, quiet seaside villages. The tropical rainforests and jungles offer many opportunities for exploring lush mountains, trekking through the jungle, or even taking a riverboat safari. The bountiful sea surrounding Malaysia provides for some of the best scuba diving and fishing anywhere in the world (Malaysia's seas are home to the Black Marlin, tuna, mackerel, sailfish, barracuda and a host of other species).

PRACTICAL BENEFITS

Medical care is good, with excellent hospitals and clinics in all the major towns. Doctors speak English, and the majority gained their qualifications in Western Europe or North America.

Although foreign residents must arrange private health insurance, visiting tourists who have an accident are entitled to free emergency treatment in public hospitals. A consultation with a private doctor in most cases will cost just to .

When it comes to banking, management methods and the range of services offered closely follow the British model. Plus, most major world banks have full-service branches in Malaysia.

Many expatriates living here off investment income keep their cash growing tax free in Labuan, an offshore tax haven administered by Malaysia, and then bring into the mainland what's needed for living expenses. Labuan is also perfect for anyone looking for a private, offshore bank account, a tax-free corporation, a trust, or other offshore structures.

Led by Malaysian Airlines, the national carrier, the island is served by many major airlines, linking it the world through its international airports. A good network of modern roads covers the distances between towns, and Malaysian telecommunications are among the best in the world.

If you've ever thought about living overseas, you owe it to yourself to investigate Malaysia.

Different Types of Online Business

Different Types of Online Business

Online business has proved to be fruitful thing to pursue. People see it flourish and prefer to move to the online business world. That being discovered, types of online business have now also increased, depending on the increasing numbers of investors and entrepreneurs who are willing to take risks in order to come up with something that will perform best in this competitive market. The business' income source is a criterion which is used to distinguish between the thousands of online business types.

Different people will have different income expectations thus people will always choose their best even if it is others' worst.

Corporate Website: is not an online business really, but it's a business which is having the web presence for purposes of promotions. The online presence is very essential for any offline business which wants to attract new customers and increase its sales. The basic income is initiated from the web's presence on offline sales.

Online shop: possession of appropriate products is the very first requirement when considering opening an e-shop. You have the option of either manufacturing those products or buying one by one and selling or buying them in bulk. Other important things you need to consider are the ordering system and the payments systems plus the mode of delivery of goods. Sales generate the incomes from this kind of business.

Affiliate shop: This shop's WEB appearance is similar to that of a real online-shop. The only difference between the two is that in this type of shop, you sell products which you do not necessarily possess. The other thing is that you do not have to take care of delivery and payments systems. At the end of the month a commission is given to you from the sales you've made. The advantage of affiliate shop as an online business type is that you can sell what you want and you are not subjected into making big initial investments.

Web services: these services include web hosting, online payments, e-mail, online marketing among others. It is also in this category that we include other services which are prepared using order and are delivered using the online media. Examples include internet marketing, web design, graphic designs, market research and translation.

Taking on a type of business, which is contrasting to your interests, just for the fact that many people are doing it is not a valid reason to kick start an online business. So, be wise enough to choose the one you're interested in.
